Board Meeting, Ponderosas, Fire Restriction

The Blackhawk POA Board of Directors meeting will be held by Video Conference from 9-11 a.m. on May 9, 2020. Contact Brad Brooks if you wish to attend: 719-252-5621.

You may have noticed the Ponderosa trees that appear to be dying. The EMC contacted the foresters at CSFS, and here is their reply: "Our working theory right now is the cold snap that occurred in October is the significant stressor – as we’ve also been borderline drought conditions, this could have been “the last straw”. If true, some of these trees may recover – especially with moisture. Other may not recover, or may succumb to secondary (or tertiary!) stressors as they have reduced vigor." The forestors will be going on an inspection field trip this week.

Because of the stressed trees, the drought, and the heat, Huerfano County is now in a STAGE 1 fire ban. Click on the following link to find the full information.
