Dec 4th Update:
Good Morning Blackhawkers!
Mike began plowing at 7:15am this morning. Snow depths on our roads ranged from 5-8”.
Please watch for Mike if you are out on our roads today.
Good morning Blackhawk:
Ron Alcorn the 2025-2026 BHR Snow Captain and his team want to make you aware of the current snow storm and the plan to handle it.
1. From research on NWS forecasts, several weather apps, and our on-ranch weather stations, we have determined that we can expect snow throughout the day today. It should end sometime around 2:00am tomorrow morning. As usual, snow depth predictions vary. As of right now, anywhere from 3”- 10”, with a most likely prediction of 4-8” for Blackhawk. It is likely that our 6” plow target will not be reached before dark today.
2. Based on those data, the BHR snow team has executed the following plan: 1) Our snow removal contractor, Mike Ferrero, will be preparing his equipment on BHR today. 2) Mike will begin clearing snow by early tomorrow morning; 3) Mike will clear snow all day tomorrow, ending his work as soon as all roads are clear, or by sunset, which ever comes first. If necessary, Mike will continue plowing on Friday. 4) The snow team will provide updates as the storm progresses and plowing begins.
3. Due to the weather, the maintenance on CR 310/Rouse Road at the railroad crossing has been delayed until December 8th at 6 PM. The road will open December 10th at 7 AM.
